Ministry of Economic Empowerment & Job Creation to partner NDE on skill acquisition and entreprenenurship.

In his sincere determination to fulfill his election campaign promises to Ebonyians to eliminate or at least reduce the level of poverty in Ebonyi State, the State Government under Engr. Dave Umahi, through the State's Ministry of Economic Empowerment and Job Creation has launched a youth empowerment program tagged "JOB CREATION THROUGH SKILLS ACQUISITION AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP TRAINING"

The State's Ministry of Economic Empowerment and Job Creation under the able commissioner, Rt. Hon. Chief Sabinus Nwankwegu is to partner with the National Directorate of Employment to realize the objectives of the programme.

The programme will empower 650 Ebonyians with skills required to start a successful business and create micro jobs. The participants who will be drawn from the 13 LGAs in the State, will be provided with vocational and entrepreneurial skills to enable them come out of poverty.

The skills to be taught to the participants include:

  1. Screeding
  2. Masonry
  3. Furniture
  4. Capentry
  5. Hair dressing
  6. Fashion Designing
  7. Cosmetology
  8. Interior decoration
  9. Welding
  10. Plumbing
  11. Computer operations
  12. Computer repairs
  13. GSM Repairs
  14. Catering
  15. Screen printing
  16. Electrical Installations
  17. Auto Mechanic
  18. Shoe and Leather Works
  19. Radio and TV repairs
  20. Aluminum Fabrication.

The multiplier effect of this program will be the creation of about 2,500 jobs on resettlement of the participants.
